Murphy Yuezhen Niu

Adjunct Assistant Professor
Education:
Ph.D., Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Theoretical and Mathematical Physics)
Biography:

Murphy Yuezhen Niu is an adjunct assistant professor in the University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies. She is also an assistant professor of computer science at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Niu’s long-term research goal is to develop quantum computing paradigms that revolutionize how we program, control, characterize, measure and error-correct large-scale quantum computers, all while avoiding the steep costs associated with digitization. She utilizes cutting-edge deep reinforcement learning and generative models for quantum control, quantum circuit compilation, and quantum system learning, leveraging some of the largest quantum computers based on superconducting qubits.
