Gabriel Kaptchuk is an assistant professor of computer science with an appointment in the University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies.

Kaptchuk’s research centers on human-centered cryptography, aiming to revolutionize privacy-preserving systems. Moving beyond traditional, mathematically intensive methods, he focuses on making cryptographic tools intuitive and user-friendly. Kaptchuk’s work includes core cryptography, faster algorithm development, and addressing policy implications and human-computer interaction.
